Only 1.2 per cent of the country's population aged between 15 to 64 eat more than five servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
While speaking at the National Workshop for dieticians and nutritionists in Suva, the National Adviser of Non Communicable diseases Dr Isimeli Tukana challenged the public nutritionists from around the country to increase this number as they will be looking at improving nutrition services.
He urged the dieticians that they have an important role to play in addressing the issue as they are the first technical people to meet the population.
The two day workshop ends today.
