There is a great need for public enterprises to undergo reform to do away with anomalies that cost Fiji a lot of money.
Interim Public Enterprise Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while addressing participants at the State Owned Enterprises Workshop said Fiji's socio-economic environment is not at a good standing that would be inducive of a stable and good economy.
Referring to a public reform report prepared by the University of the South Pacific, Sayed-Khaiyum said reform options from outright privatization, management contract and public-private partnerships are needed.
According to Khaiyum, a good example would be the recent liberalization of the television and telecommunication sector, which has seen consumers benefit.
