The Ministry of Public Works has given a temporary contract to a new company to supply bitumen for the urgent maintenance of tar seal roads around Fiji.
Principal Information Officer Sainiana Waqainabete has confirmed that repair works on the roads are expected to start from today.
It was earlier confirmed that the delay in road works was caused by the suspension of the contract with the previous company which was contracted to provide tar seal materials for the patching of roads.
Waqainabete said the Ministry will not penalize the company since payment for the work was not made by the Government.
