The Public should be aware of conmen and of people selling items at lower prices.

Those were the words of Suva Magistrate Aruna Prasad before sentencing 33 year old, unemployed, Josefa Sokova of Wairua Road, Wailoku who is charged with obtaining money by false pretense.

On 17th March this year, Sokova took $300 from John Irukesi, a student of USP saying that he is selling a laptop computer. However, after giving the money the complainant did not receive the laptop and reported the matter to police.

Sokova pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months and was told to pay $300 as compensation to the victim.
