Police continue to warn members of the public not to drink and drive during this festive season after another road accident at Lomolomo stretch in Lautoka late this afternoon nearly cost a human life.

Acting Director Traffic Superintendent Mahesh Mishra said the driver of a twin cab overtook the vehicle in front and collides with an oncoming vehicle.

He said the driver of the twin cab and the lady in the other vehicle received injuries and were taken to Lautoka hospital with minor injuries.

Mishra said they believe that the twin cab driver was under the influence of alcohol and he is currently being questioned by police.

He said this is the 86th case of drunk driving since the operations started on the 12th of this month.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a mini van driver and passengers under the influence of alcohol received injuries after being involved in an accident at Vitogo Parade.

Police said 6 passengers left the injured driver and a passenger and fled the scene of the accident.
