Everyone is being requested to wear light blue, this Friday as Fiji celebrates the 38th year of its independence around the country.

Chairman of the Fiji Day celebrations Major Neumi Leweni confirmed that included in the Suva celebrations is the farewell to the Vodafone Fiji Bati players as they gear up for the Rugby League World Cup to be held in Australia at the end of this month.

Major Leweni added that the Fiji Day parade will see the Fiji Military Forces, Fiji Police Forces and Fiji Prisons Services joint marches for the parade at Albert Park. He said a wonderful sight to watch is the Military Tattoo display by the Military and Police Band, the National Youth Band and Salvation Army Band.

Meanwhile, the military tattoo is a military drum performance which signifies that the soldiers must return to barracks in the evenings which dates back during the First World War and the Second World War.
