The re-introduction of the Public Emergency Regulation is a temporary measure set out for a specific purpose.

These are the words of Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama in a statement released this afternoon, adding that the regulation is not here to stay and it is not an indication of paranoia on the Interim Government's part.

Bainimarama goes on to say that the reinstatement is simply an act of prudence to distinguish what could easily develop into a situation of instability and chaos.

He adds that they fully cannot guarantee stability if Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase and his fellow SDL executives are allowed to continue their campaign on lies, deceit and incitement as this could have gained momentum and would have become a situation that would be dreaded and is not wanted.

The Interim Prime Minister also calls for understanding, cooperation and assistance from the international community regarding the situation.
