The appointment of the Public Accounts Committee members has made a mockery of the Constitution.
These are the words of the Pacific Centre for Public Integrity Director Angie Heffernan who said the appointments of former Interim Ministers Manu Korovulavula, Adi Laufitu Malani and Jainend Kumar to the new Public Accounts Committee is unconstitutional.
One the appointees of the new Public Accounts Committee said he is not bothered by the comments made by the National Federation Party General Secretary who said the appointment was an act of nepotism and cronyism.
The President of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Kamlesh Arya said Rae is entitled to his views and as far as his appointment is concerned, it was recommended by the Interim Prime Minister.
Arya further said that negative comments will not help at this stage as Fiji needs to move forward.
The committee will independently scrutinize the Auditor General's reports or any other reports it sees fit for reporting.
