The Public Service and Public Enterprise Ministry has now called for expressions of interest for the provision of public services.

Public Service Permanent Secretary Taina Tagicakibau said contracting out of public services has always been an intention of the ministry, but due to the current industrial climate and the need to ensure the delivery of essential services to the public, this process must now be expedited.

Tagicakibau said the likely services to be contracted out are repair and maintenance works for water supply and sewerage services, repair and maintenance works for roads, bridges, jetties, government buildings and vehicles, cleaning, laundry and catering services for government institutions, cleaning services of the Government Buildings and offices and repair and maintenance of government quarters and government owned office buildings.
