Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi believes it is important for grass-root people living in a province to see what their Provincial Holdings Company has done for them first before they support it.

Serulagilagi said the birth of the Waimaro Investment Ltd which opened their supermarket in Korovou town yesterday, was a result of a provincial meeting where they raised their concern on what the Tailevu Holdings had achieved, since it was established and what it has given back to the people.

He added 30 years ago the people of Waimaro decided to form their own company after they felt it would take time for the provincial holdings to come out and assist them.

It started with the 49 clans in the district of Waimaro coming together to collect money which was later used to build a 3 storey building in Korovou town which was rented to government departments.

Money collected from this rent, together with the assistance of the Australia government and the loan from ANZ helped the Waimaro Investment to open a supermarket in Korovou town yesterday.
