The Ba province is expected to make a request to the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs for more time before they hand in their submissions for the draft village by-laws, as today is the final day to hand in their submissions.

Chairman of Ba Provincial Council, Ratu Meli Saukuru said out of the 107 villages in Ba, only 30 villages have given in their submissions.

The Taukei Navo said some submissions that have come in from villagers include the restricting of kava drinking for the youths in the village the dress code must be respected and rowdy actions to be restricted.

He said the province will ensure that all their submissions are given by next Wednesday.

Meanwhile the office of the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs confirmed that only the province of Nadroga and the retired members of the Fijian Teachers Association have handed in their submissions.
