Although the Public Service Commission has banned renting further office space and quarters in order to cut costs, the Kadavu Provincial Holdings officials said they have been assured by the interim government that their newly constructed building located at Victoria Parade will be rented by the government.
Kadavu Provincial Council Chairman Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo said they will stick to the legal agreement that has already been made.
Tagicakibau reveals that the cost of office space to accommodate ministries and departments has escalated almost two fold over the years since 1998. Similarly the cost for rented quarters has almost doubled for the same period.
