The newly appointed Acting Permanent Secretary of Information has stressed the importance of information dissemination through the Government's Media Liason network.

Sharon Smith-Johns while addressing the Government Media Liason Officers last week, said that in the interest of good governance and public accountability, it is important that all government Media Liason officers should provide timely and accurate media releases on the progress of their ministries.

Smith-Johns said that all MLOs are expected to handle media enquiries in a manner consistent with Public Service regulations.

She added that the ten pending MLO meetings this year will contribute to the development of their network.

Smith-Johns took over from Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni as the Permanent Secretary for Information.
