The Fiji Police Force is urging taxi drivers to provide normal services to members of the public during off peak hours.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said taxi drivers in some parts of the country do not provide services during off peak hours and this is where the members of the public have no option but to seek the services of illegal operators.
While speaking at the Fiji Taxi Union AGM, Mishra requested the taxi drivers to provide normal services throughout 24 hours.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Fiji Taxi Union Rishi Ram has agreed that the only ones to blame are the taxi drivers themselves as the illegal operators come into the scene when there are no taxis available.
