As the debate continues on the proposed electoral system for Fiji, Soqosoqo Vakamarama General Secretary and NCBBF member, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said the new system is good and definitely not confusing.
Although Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry has said that more discussions need to take place as the proposed system is complicated, Adi Finau said the members of the NCBBF, including Chaudhry, had agreed to the proposed voting and electoral system
Adi Finau said the proposed system will be simpler and will be totally non-race based.
She said the current system is confusing with people having to cast two votes under a very complicated voting system.
Adi Finau said the new system will also be fair.
Although the Kadavu Provincial Council had unanimously rejected the Draft People's Charter during their council meeting, the public forum held last week painted a different picture.
According to District Officer Eliki Masa, more than 230 people attended the public forum held in Vunisea and the response from most of the people who attended was positive.
Masa said the same positive response has been received from the four teams currently visiting the nine districts. He adds some of the districts had banned the teams from entering the villages.
Masa said the consultations should end by next week.
