The National Fire Authority said many building and commercial property owners are unaware of fire safety in their workplace however some are now taking pro-active approach.

NFA's Commercial and Training officer, Pauliasi Tuiwai said they completed a fire warden training workshop with tenant organisations of property owned by Food Processors Fiji Limited yesterday.

According to Tuiwai training session enabled the fire wardens from each organisation to learn basic concepts of fire safety and use of various fire safety equipment and protection methods during a fire incident.

He said as part of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, workers are required to be trained to respond to a fire incident and how to use the fire safety equipment installed in their workplace such as fire extinguishers, fire alarm etc.
