The Chief Fire officer has revealed that proper planning needs to be made before the residents of Vacoko Prison Rehabilitation Centre rebuild their homes, after their bures were destroyed in a fire on Friday night.
Mark Reid said there is an infrastructure problem which delayed their fire fighting battle on Friday. He added that these residents need to be advised on how to rebuild their homes.
Meanwhile, the National Fire Authority believes the fire started from a pile of rubbish lit near one of the bures which destroyed about 16 bures which were close to each other.
Firefighters managed to save eight bures in which about 50 people are now taking shelter. Lami police confirm that there were no injuries.
