There are certain issues that Fiji needs be to focused on for the future of tourism in Fiji.

General manager West Inn/Sheraton Group Fiji Shane Cunning at the Fiji Institute of Accountants Congress which ended yesterday, said Fiji will continue to rely on key feeder markets, so we need to promote a positive image and develop infrastructure which needs to match tourist expectations.

Cunning said there must be import substitution to reduce the cost to the end user, adding that there also needs to be continued local management development to reduce reliance on expatriates, as well as to brand Fiji where strategic focus is required for long term benefits.

Cunning added Fiji must also be proactive and well prepared for seasonal impacts such as natural disasters, while there needs to be flexible public relations promotions to overcome adverse events political or natural.
