The Rehabilitation Program which was implemented for those mine workers that were made redundant when the Emperor Gold Mine closed on December 5th has so far been a success.
According to the Interim Minister for Employment Opportunities, Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi, his ministry has been keeping an eye on the program and filing weekly updates.
This follows the move by the new Mining company Westech Mining Limited to re-employ some of the laid off workers and plans that they will produce their first bar of Gold by Christmas this year.
The Interim Cabinet had earlier this year allocated $600,000 for the implementation of the rehabilitation program for the ex-miners under the revised 2007 budget.
