The Health Ministry said it will ensure that the agent and distributer of the Children's Tylenol Suspension Bubble Gum Flavour remove the product from all pharmacy shelves by Friday.

Spokesperson, Iliesa Tora said the distributers and agents are responsible for taking the product off the shelves after the voluntary recall was announced by the US manufacturer over the weekend.

McNeil Healthcare Consumer in the USA is confident that all stock of it recalled products will be removed from the shelves of retail outlets in Fiji by this Friday.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare said it is initiating this voluntary recall because some of these products may not meet required quality standards.

It said this recall is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse medical events.

However, the company said as a precautionary measure, parents and caregivers should not administer these products to their children.

It said some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles.

McNeil is offering two options for consumers who have purchased products affected by the recall.

They can receive a refund for the average retail price of the product from their point of purchase or return the affected product for a full refund to Healthcare Products International based in Laucala Beach.
