The Fiji Prison and Corrections Department has acquired five acres of land in Lautoka to set up a commercial farm.
Public Relations Officer Fred Elbourne said this is part of the plan to commercialise their farm in the Western Division and they are hoping to plant 5,000 pawpaws and 5000 egg plants by the end of the year.
Elbourne said this is part on the rehabilitation process not only to generate revenue and they believe that prisoners will learn how a commercial farm is done.
