20-year-old unemployed Taveuni youth Aminasi Vueta appeared today before Magistrate Amani Rokotuinaviti for sentencing on charges of larceny and breaking and entering.

The court heard, on the 12th of May, Vueta and a group of friends broke into the Dai-ichi Warehouse and got away with car parts worth a total value of $21, 000.

The court heard that some of the stolen car parts had been recovered and Vueta was willing to return to the island to continue with his Form 5 education.

Magistrate Rokotuinaviti sentenced Vueta to 18 months in prison and gave him twenty eight days to appeal the sentence and to return the remaining stolen goods.
