The situation gets worse as the prices of butter and other dairy products are expected to increase soon.
With prices of flour and sharps increasing from today, General Manager of Dairy Farms Fiji Limited in Navua and a member of the Rewa Dairy Cooperative Board David Wilson confirmed to Fiji Village news that submissions have been made for an increase in butter prices in light of drastic increases in raw materials.
Wilson added that currently farmers simply cannot meet the local demand for milk and dairy products and they have to continue to import the raw materials.
