Preferential prices for sugar exported by Fiji to the European Union market will drop by a total of 36 percent within the next five months.
In an interview with the former Fiji Sugar Marketing Authority CEO, Viliame Savou before the closure of their office, he revealed that the higher prices for Fiji sugar under the EU agreement come to an end in October.
This means that our sugar export earnings will drop further due to the reduced price of Fiji sugar.
Savou said Fiji has benefitted a lot through the EU preferential price agreement for over 30 years.
The Fiji Sugar Marketing Authority closed earlier this week.
