The Commerce Commission said they have taken into account the vast localities of the different islands when setting the prices for the basic items under price control.
Fijivillage has received queries from people living in outer islands about the fact that there are fixed prices of goods under price control for outer islands, and whether the distances of islands as Lau or Kadavu have been taken into account.
Commission chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy said two variables were taken into account when determining these prices.
He added these prices are irrespective of whether it is a shop in Lau or in the Lomaiviti group which is closer to Viti Levu.
