Consumers can expect an increase in the price of local chicken products in two weeks time as the government has removed the price control on chicken and chicken products.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum revealed at a press conference in the last hour that they have decided to remove price control on chicken products after consultations with the two poultry companies in the country.
He said the full price increase will come into force in the next nine months.
Sayed Khaiyum said the increase will not affect people who receive the Food Voucher programme.
