The Prices and Incomes Board (PIB) stressed that the price of diesel and motor spirit increases as soon as the PIB announces the new prices and this has always been the case.

However, PIB officer Biutiviti Biulailai said only the old stocks of kerosene and premix outboard fuel that is purchased before today will not reflect the increased prices until the new stock is purchased.

And after concerns from consumers that retailers immediately implement the new prices on old stocks of kerosene and premix outboard fuel, the PIB recommended that the matter be reported to them for investigation.

Effective from today, the price of motor spirits increases from $2.10 to $2.12 per liter, kerosene prices increase from $1.54 to $1.67, diesel price increases by 13cents from $1.82 to $1.95 while premix outboard fuel increases by 3cents from $2.09 to $2.12.
