Instead of reacting we should really be looking at prevention.
These are the words of Fiji Women's Crisis Centre Coordinator, Shameema Ali on the 27 percent increase in the number of reported figures on rape and attempted rape released by Police.
Ali said it is the community that needs to be called on to help prevent these types of crimes from occurring.
Police figures also show that there were 21 reported cases of rape in January this year compared to 12 in January last year.
In February, this year there were 7 cases of rape however last year there were three more cases reported.
