Pressure will not force quick elections
Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said Australia and NZ should realize that Fiji's race based electoral system was flawed and reforms have to be carried out.
He said Australia and New Zealand's travel sanctions will not deter the Fiji government from achieving its objectives.
Sayed-Khaiyum said Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd's comments that they want elections as soon as possible because they do not want the coup culture to spread in the Pacific, are uninformed comments.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the Australian Prime Minister should assess what has happened in Fiji over the years.
Meanwhile Australian Foreign Minister, Stephen Smith confirms that they are not considering any further sanctions apart from the current ones in place.
NZ Foreign Minister, Murray McCulley said they know that the travel sanctions against Fiji are hurting.
However Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said it is clear that the two countries are still trying to sabotage everything the government is trying to achieve.
