The President Ratu Josefa Iloilo has revealed that he wants the draft for the People's Charter for Change and Progress to be ready no later then October next year before the general election are held in 2009.
Speaking at the launch of the People's Charter this morning, Ratu Iloilo said the main goal is to do away with the racial divisions in the country.
The President told the national council to ensure that the people of Fiji are consulted and their views be included in the charter.
The President revealed during the launch that he was hoping to announce the names of the 40 members to make up the National Council for Building a Better Fiji. However due to the travel sanctions, the announcement has to be delayed as they are finding difficulties in getting qualified people. President Iloilo only announced that Commodore Bainimarama and the Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Petero Mataca is co-chairs of the National Council.
