The President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was made to feel at home as the former Fiji residents now living in the United States accorded him a traditional ceremony of welcome.

Ratu Epeli was passing through the US on his way to China.  

The US Fijians were joined by staff of the Fiji Embassy in New York.

Fiji's Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola said that Ratu Epeli was briefed on the missions by Fiji's permanent representative to the United Nations Peter Thomson and Fiji's Ambassador to the USA Winston Thompson.

The President was in New York as Guest of Honor of the United Nations International School Meeting. He left for China on Monday morning.
