The $29 million dollar Japan-Pacific Information and Communication Technology Centre at the University of the South Pacific was opened yesterday by the President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
Ratu Epeli said the Government has always recognized that ICT must be fully exploited as a means of overcoming the geographic constraints of vastness and isolation that we face in the Pacific.
Meanwhile the Ambassador of Japan, Yutaka Yoshizawa said Japanese Governmentt offered an additional grant aid worth approximately $16.7 million for work on the second phase to supplement the function of the new ICT Centre with a multipurpose lecture theater.
