The President Ratu Josefa Iloilo left for Australia for a routine medical checkup yesterday.

Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirms that the Tui Vuda left yesterday and although the President is away there is no need to appoint an Acting President as his Excellency is still able to perform his duty to the best of his ability and will be away for a short time.

Meanwhile, the Tui Vuda's traditional spokesperson, Ratu Tevita Momoedonu confirmed that his Excellency was accompanied by the first lady.
