The President Ratu Josefa Iloilo has endorsed the establishment of a 6 members taskforce which will be responsible to carry out a thorough review of the Great Council of Chiefs before the new GCC members are appointed.
At a press conference, Interim Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau revealed that the term of reference of the GCC Special Taskforce is to formulate a new look council.
Ratu Epeli said that those who have been appointed to be members are well versed with traditional protocol and have a clear understanding of the Council of Chiefs.
Those appointed are Ratu Tu'uakitau Cokanauto, Ratu Talemo Ratakele, Ro Epeli Mataitini, Ratu Jone Nakautoga, Ratu Josefa Basulu the Tui Mavana and Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo to be the secretary.
The members of this special task force are drawn from wide cross section of the chiefly household in Fiji and have been given a time period of one month to complete their work.
