President Jioji Konrote has called on schools and communities to work towards creating a greater sense of patriotism and lasting unity in Fiji.

Konrote was speaking at the 80th and 30th Anniversary celebration of Yat Sen Primary and Secondary schools.

He said like the two schools, Fiji wants and must continue to inculcate a greater sense of true friendship, patriotism and lasting unity among its multiethnic communities.

The President said in the new Fiji we are building unfettered national unity where our children, grandchildren and future generations know only one human race.

He has also urged all communities to collaborate with government in harnessing and cultivating a knowledge-based society through a focus of high quality education and continuous learning.

Konrote adds the Yat Sen community is continuing to contribute very positively to Fiji's socio-economic and cultural development.

He also acknowledged the vision for the schools to open their doors to all ethnic communities in Fiji.
