President Asks for Patience
Ratu Iloilo, who was chief guest at the 37 year “Celebration of Fiji's Independence” at Albert Park, said that even though Fiji has experienced four takeovers, we all need to work together to carry the country forward.
Present at Albert Park today were the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and some members of the Cabinet and members of the Diplomatic Corp. And members of the public stood in the rain to witness the parade from the combined military and Police Force.
A 21 gun salute from the military was the highlight of the event.
And since we're celebrating Fiji Day today, Village News took to the streets this morning to see how people viewed Fiji Day.
And the military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has confirmed to Village News that the Public Emergency Regulation has been lifted as of 12mid day today.
The PER was earlier re-invoked to clamp down on comments made in the media, supposedly going against the military by ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and SDL National Director Peceli Kinivuwai.
