Families are the starting point in preserving our cultures.
That is the main essence of what Miss Niue, Carthy Lavini will be emphasizing at the weeklong Miss South Pacific Beauty Pageant in Suva.
The 23 year Law student said that one needs to realize that the only way to preserve or carry on tradition is the family unit. Lavini adds that to tie in this is one way to protect our environment as well.
Lavini also adds that it is through families that we can employ traditional practices to ensure sustainable practices.
The 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant will be focusing on how Pacific Countries can work together to preserve culture and also look at preserving our environment.
