The road to next HSBC series in Hong Kong and Adelaide starts today for Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Iliesa Tanivula and his assistant Joe Savou.
Tanivula rested some of his top players like Jerry Burotu and Emosi Vucago last week at the Nawaka 7s as the team management wanted them to recover as they prepare for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s this weekend.
Tanivula said that the team has to really work hard in the next three weeks in the lead up to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong Fiji is in Pool D alongside Kenya, Russia and Malaysia.
New Zealand and England share top spot in the Series table with 80 points.
Fiji and defending Hong Kong and Series champions Samoa are joint third on 64 points and South Africa is close behind in fifth on 56 points.
The event also offers the largest prize purse in International Sevens, $150,000 USD.
