The Fiji Police Force is concerned at the number of prank calls made to the 919 and 917 numbers.
Crime stoppers Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Josaia Weicavu has also confirmed that most prank calls are made by Primary and Secondary School students in the afternoon.
Corporal Weicavu said they receive more than 100 prank calls in a day and has urged parents and guardians to monitor and educate their children not to play around with the 919 and the 917 numbers.
He also warned that anyone found making prank calls will be charged under the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, information received through crime stoppers has led to the arrest of several escapees and recovery of stolen items in the last few weeks.
