People living between Togalevu and Tailevu have been advised to store water now as several power surges from 2.30 this morning in the central division has caused major problems for the Water Authority of Fiji and the Fiji Electricity Authority.
Water Authority Spokesperson, Maika Nagalu said that due to a power surge this morning all the water pumps to Savura and Waila pumping station are down.
Nagalu has also confirmed that the water level in the Tamavua reservoir is also very low and people should store water now.
Fijivillage this morning witnessed the effects of the power surge as a power transformer along Wailoku Road burst into flames as we drove past causing a black out in the entire area.
FEA said they have dispersed a team to inspect the transformer and carry out repair works.
