If Fiji continues to get no rainfall in the coming weeks, the FEA could take the option of rationing power.
This was revealed at a press conference this afternoon by FEA Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel following revelations that the water level at the Monasavu catchment area, now sits eight and half meters above the safe operating level.
Patel explains that if we continue to generate electricity from the current water level at Monasavu and get no rain in the coming weeks, than by the 9th or 10th of December, the Monasavu catchment will run out of water.
Patel said the situation does not look good as we continue to get below average rain.
Patel is pleading with people to save on the electricity usage.
