Aaron Powell recorded a personal best time in his heat at the World Junior Championships in Ukraine.

The Gospel High School student ran a time of 21.87 seconds to finish second in his heat but he came seventh in the semifinal after clocking 21.96 seconds.

Powell finished 4th in the 100 metre heats with a time of 11.09 seconds while Jacob Waqanivalu came fifth in a time of 11.16 seconds.

In the 400 meter heats, Natabua High School student Batinisavu Uluiyata did not qualify while Beqa Yanuca Coca-Cola Games star Saula Nodrakoro clocked 50.90 seconds to finish 7th.
