Post Fiji employee remanded for embezzlement
Appearing late this afternoon in front Magistrate Thusara Rajasinghe, Filimone Jale pleaded guilty to the 9 counts of embezzlement while his wife Eseta Nakaukaucagi pleaded guilty to 1 count of aiding and abetting.
It is alleged that Jale while being the permanent reliving postal assistant at the Laucala Beach Mail centre between January in 2008 up until this month took one video Icard, one Iphone, two digital cameras, assorted clothing and jewelry, NZ$120 and on the 9th of July allegedly took $30,000 namely a remittance between Post Offices which was reported missing to Police.
Magsitrate Rajasinghe remanded Jale in Custody as FICAC lawyer, Henrietta Matakitoga informed the Court that it was a serious offence and it was highly likely that he would interfere with other witnesses.
The matter will be called again tomorrow where FICAC is expected to submit a full statement of offence.
Meanwhile, Jale's wife has been released on a $1,000 bail.
