Infrastructure problems, Climate change, and adhering to international standards are the major challenges facing Port operators around the region.
Stakeholders from around the pacific have gathered in Suva this week to discuss how to overcome these challenges at the 35th Pacific Countries Ports Association.
Association Chairman Brian Riches said countries in the pacific, including Fiji must meet the requirement or trade could be affected.
Riches said more investments are needed in this area to ensure Pacific island states are able to enhance trade activities with other countries.
