The Fiji Ports Corporation Limited is taking a step further to impound fishing vessels stranded near Suvavou village after giving the order to the owners for the removal their vessels.

Senior Port Facility Security Officer Jeke Vakararawa said they have impounded two vessels after the owners failed to respond to a 14 days’ notice issued to them.

Vakararawa said under the Seaport Management Act, the Chief Executive Officer has the powers to auction or sink the vessels if the owners are not determined.
