Ports Fiji bosses under investigation
A team of FICAC officers raided the Ports Fiji office in Suva yesterday and seized several documents after a number of fresh complaints were lodged against the executives.
The investigation into Ports Fiji is linked with ongoing investigations by FICAC against former executives of the company including Former Chairman Sialeni Vuetaki who was earlier charged with abuse of office and has a case pending in court.
Vuetaki is alleged to have approved a payment of over $177,000 to former CEO Herbert Hazelman without the proper authority of the Board.
The current executives are expected to be questioned by FICAC soon.
FICAC spokesperson Erica Lee could only confirm that they had to act swiftly to get a search warrant to secure the documents as part of the investigations.
Lee confirmed that FICAC officers had discussions with the executives of Fiji Ports who were cooperative in allowing them access to various documents.
