These are the words of Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell on his opinion of political interference in sport in an interview with Radio Australia about Fiji's exclusion from the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi next year.
Meanwhile, in reply to NZ Prime Minister John Key's opposition of Fiji's participation in the Games next year, FASANOC President Vidya Lackan earlier said that sports and politics are two separate issues and Key should not be telling other leaders what to do.
The Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell said they have been notified that FASANOC is taking the matter of their exclusion to the Court of Arbitration of Sports adding so far they have done all they can do.
He said the Commonwealth Heads of Government at their meeting in Trinidad and Tobago could have considered the Fiji athletes however there are certain rules of the Commonwealth that have to be adhered to.
