Having a think tank to look at issues affecting members of the Methodist Church is timely according to a senior SDL member.
The think tank has a 20 member committee with the likes of Adi Samanunu Talakuli Cakobau, Pita Tagicakiverata and Ratu Meli Saukuru, looks at Fiji's present status and its impact on the work of the church and the livelihood of the people.
The committee will listen to presentations by academics and works under the program, “Christianity and democracy".
One of the presenters in the opening session and a committee member, Doctor Tupeni Baba said the Church noted the hard times members are going through and as a result want to do something for them.
While responding to questions on whether the move is seen as the Methodist Church taking a political stand, Doctor Baba said politics is part of everyday life.
The next meeting will be held next month.
