Politicians/public officiers not to be permitted
Former parliamentarian and Cakaudrove Chief, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure said the chiefs of Cakaudrove told Ratu Tuakitau Cokanauto's review team, that the selection criteria should not be changed.
He said that Cakaudrove chiefs also agreed that the old systems be brought back, where politicians and those holding public offices are not permitted to be members of the Chiefly Body.
They also told the review team to reconsider the decision regarding Major General Sitiveni Rabuka's termination as a life member of the GCC, as they believe that Rabuka should retain his membership in the council.
Last week GCC Task Force member, Ratu Talemo Ratakele told the Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu not to stop the Cakaudrove chiefs from airing their views to the Task Force after he questioned the legality of the task force team appointed by the interim administration.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs of Tailevu will be deciding today on the final proposal to be given to the Great Council of Chiefs Review Committee.
Sub-Committee spokesman, Ratu Inoke Seru said the committee has already drawn up the proposal and the Bose Vanua of the chiefs of Tailevu will make the final decision on the matter today.
