Fiji's policy making machinery has been starved of quality research for a long time.
Those were the words of Chairman of the first ever Fiji National Research Council, FIT Director Dr Ganesh Chand at their first meeting yesterday adding the establishment of this council is a timely move.
Chand said the Council's main objective is to stimulate research as the link between quality research and policy making is vital.
Chand said the Council want to target key areas for independent research like environment, HIV/ AIDS, Human Capital, Infrastructure, Investment, Poverty, Technology, Development and Resource Base industries amongst others.
